NORTH HIGH STANDOUT SIGNS WITH BCU BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Summer Gordon, a standout from Sioux City North High School, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Briar Cliff University, next year.
“We are very excited about Summer coming to Briar Cliff,” said Briar Cliff head coach Mike Power. “She brings great strength and athleticism to our team. She plays a physical game and will be a nice compliment to our squad.”
The 5-9 forward averaged 15.1 ppg and 8.3 rpg this past season for the Stars, after playing her previous three varsity seasons at West High School. Following her senior season, the 1,000-point scorer was selected to play in both the IGCA and IBCA all-star games.
For the Stars, Gordon earned first team all-conference, first team all-Metro, first team all-Western Iowa, first team all-Northwest Iowa Honor and first team Iowa Girls Coaches’ Association All-District. The Iowa Basketball Coaches’ Association All-Region team member was also named third team Iowa Newspaper Association All-State and third team Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-State.
For the Wolverines, she was a two-time first team all-Northwest Iowa choice and a two-time first team Iowa Basketball Coaches’ Association all-Metro selection. She garnered second team all-conference accolafes as a sophomore and first team honors, junior year. Aside from basketball, Gordon also earned two varsity letter in track.
